Gifu University Library wins the Grand Prix at the 2016 Education and Study Support Skill Competition for Librarians

Gifu University Library won the Grand Prix at the 2016 Education and Study Support Skill Competition for Librarians organized by the Tokai-Hokuriku Region National University Library Association.

In this competition, university libraries are honored for their excellent work in their education and study support activities. The major purposes of this competition are to enhance skills of library staff in their study support activities for university students, to encourage students to use the library more often, and to upgrade the levels of students' information literacy. Applicants to the competition are the member libraries of the Tokai-Hokuriku Region National University Library Association.

There were five applications this year to the competition. Among them, the "Library Tour (Book Borrowing Game by Group*)" organized by Gifu University Library was presented with the Grand Prix at the 2016 Education and Study Support Skill Competition for Librarians.

On January 6, 2017, the awarding ceremony was held. Gifu University was highly praised for its ingenuity in the Library Tour game. One of the judges in the competition made the following comment; "Gifu University Library's innovative idea of urging newly-enrolled students to use the library through the Library Tour game, which is an unprecedented, pioneering method to help students to come to know more about the library."

With the wining of the Grand Prix at the 2016 Education and Study Support Skill Competition for Librarians as a great momentum, Gifu University Library will continue to do its utmost to make the facility more accessible and open to all visitors.

*Library Tour: participants are divided into multiple groups and compete in the number of correct books they borrow by checking the list of books they are given
