The 2nd Winter School starts

From December 5 through December 22, 2016, Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) opens the 2nd Winter School at Gifu University. In view of introducing the joint degree programs*, Gifu University welcomed students from both the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) and the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for this 2nd Winter School. IITG students joined the 1st Winter School in December last year.

A total of 8 students from two universities attend the school and will engage in research work at the laboratories at the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences. They are all topnotch students of the two universities who won the school attendance slots (only one in every 10 students was chosen). They also attend the Japanese language classes offered by the International Student Center, special lectures by the teaching staff of Gifu University, IITG and UKM professors. In just three intensive weeks for "studying abroad experience" at Gifu University, the students will be invited to inspect local businesses and join Japanese culture experience events held both on-and-off campus.

Through a variety of programs during the 2nd Winter School, it is hoped that all students will fully enjoy Gifu University campus life. We expect not only the IITG and UKM students, but also Gifu University students and the teaching staff of three universities to have better understanding about the international collaborative education activities and their actual implementation in the near future.

*Joint Degree Program: a student after completing a joint degree program established among partner universities is given a single degree from all these partner universities
