The Center for Collaborative Study with Community signs a tourism partnership with ORGAN

On August 5, 2016, the Center for Collaborative Study with Community of Gifu University signed a tourism partnership with ORGAN, an incorporated non-profit organization in Gifu Prefecture. ORGAN has been working for the promotion of tourism around the Nagara River areas by carrying out various events and activities such as "Nagaragawa Onpaku", experience-oriented programs for visitors supported by the local professionals. Mr. Yusuke Kaba, President of ORGAN is currently serving as a lecturer at Gifu University and local coordinator for the Center for Collaborative Study with Community.

This new tourism agreement between the two institutions aims to contribute to human resource development and regional revitalization by addressing a wide range of issues about promotion of tourism around the Nagara River areas. To this end, the two endeavor to share human resources and form a mutual, extensive partnership. ORGAN is the first organization that the Center for Collaborative Study with Community signed such a comprehensive partnership with.

In the signing ceremony, Mr. Kaba said, "Gifu University, a base for wisdom will have a greater impact on tourism promotion across Gifu Prefecture. In this regard, I hope that Gifu University and ORGAN can build a truly diverse cooperative relationship." In reply, Mr. Koichi Masukawa, Director of the Center for Collaborative Study with Community said, "The Center so far has barely involved in tourism business in regions. Active participation by the students and the teaching staff of Gifu University in tourism industry could produce region-oriented personnel, and by encouraging their participation, the university can give benefits of wisdom back to local communities."

Next, Mr. Tomotaka Hori, Director of Tourism and International Affairs Bureau, Department of Commerce, Labor and Industry of Gifu Prefecture, who served as a coordinator of this partnership commented, "Gifu Prefecture is seeking to create a base for tourism promotion, and we all look forward to this new partnership which will be truly beneficial to everyone concerned."

The members of the Center for Collaborative Study with Community and ORGAN will continue to hold talks to discuss how to conduct survey and research for student internship, marketing and drafting strategy plans, as well as how to address various regional issues in partnership with local residents and organizations.
