First Secretary of Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan Pays Courtesy Call on President Moriwaki

On August 26, Dr. Bui Viet Khoi, First Secretary of Science and Technology Section, Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam paid a courtesy call on President Hisataka Moriwaki.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the possibility of joint research activity and collaboration between Viet Nam and Gifu University in the following six sectors that Japan and Viet Nam have designated as priority areas for bilateral cooperation: electronic devices, automobiles, agricultural machinery, shipbuilding, food processing, and environmental conservation techniques.

In light of the fact that Gifu University has a graduate school dedicated to plant production and management with faculty members specializing in quality preservation theory in relation to agricultural products, and who apply their research results to distribution technologies, both parties actively exchanged ideas on possible collaboration in these fields.

Also attending the courtesy call were two scholars visiting from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology for the 4th UGSAS-GU Roundtable & Symposium 2015: Dr. Mai Tanh Tung, Deputy Head, Department of International Cooperation, and Dr. Lien Ha Tran, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology. On hand from Gifu University were Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations, Dr. Masateru Senge, Dean of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGSAS), UGSAS Professors Toru Suzuki, Kohei Nakano and Shingo Kawai, and Mr. Haruya Kato, the Overseas Partnership Coordinator of UGSAS.
