Delegation from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati makes a courtesy visit to President Hisataka Moriwaki

Dr. Anupam Saikia, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Dr. Bhisma K. Patel, Head of Department of Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G), India made a courtesy visit to President Hisataka Moriwaki on Thursday, April, 2nd, 2015. The meeting was joined by Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations, Dr. Hiroyuki Koyama, Advisor to the President, Dr. Shuichi Nonomura, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Mutsuhiro Shima, Head of Globalization Promotion Office of the Faculty of Engineering, and Associate Professor Lim Lee Wah of the Faculty of Engineering.

In the meeting, they exchanged opinions about implementation of joint cooperative educational programs between IIT-G and Gifu University, possibilities for internship programs offered by companies in Gifu Prefecture to the IIT-G students. The IIT-G delegation proposed to invite the Gifu University students to Technical Festival organized by a student union of IIT-G in September, 2015. Gifu University attendees welcomed the proposal. They also talked about a planned visit of President Moriwaki, Dr. Suzuki and other Gifu University delegates to IIT-G in June, 2015 for the conclusion of university-level agreement on student and faculty exchanges, and deepening of discussions about joint cooperative educational programs. In addition, they shared information about Gifu University's initiative to open a winter school whereby the IIT-G students are allowed to visit companies within Gifu Prefecture in December 2015. It is expected that Gifu University and IIT-G continue to hold similar meetings for an early implementation of these joint cooperative education programs in the future.
