A welcome party was held for newly-arrived international students who have started their life in a student dormitory, "International House" from this April.  The party was held at Multipurpose Hall, International House starting from 5:30p.m. on Friday, April, 18^th, 2014.  About 50 senior residents gave a warm, cordial welcome to the new residents.

Four "tutors" of the International House organized the party in cooperation with the staff of International Student Affairs Office. These "tutors" are living in the International House, sharing their life with the international residents.  Their missions include offering guidance and consultations to the international residents in their life in Japan and their studies as well as assisting management and operations of the House.  They work closely together in planning, coordinating and implementing various events and activities so that the international students can enjoy their life to the fullest during their stay in Japan. 

The party started with a welcome speech delivered by Harushige Kimura, Director of International House followed by introduction of guests of honor including Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations, Dr. Toyohide Takeuchi, Director of International Student Center and Mr. Naoki Matsui from a local international exchange organization called, "Kokusai Kouryu no Wa ∞ Kurono".  Associate Professor David Barker, who serves as Manager of International House proposed a toast which signaled an official opening of the party.  While relishing delicious food kindly prepared by the tutors, international students enjoyed lively conversations and built a new friendship with one another. Expressing great appreciation to Mr. Matsui who brought many big, red ripe strawberries for the party, the participants kept on enjoying taking photos and playing "Musical Chairs" at the House.
