Professor Edison Munaf, a guest speaker from Andalas University delivered a lecture on the current status of educational system in Indonesia including various points at issue and possible remedy for ongoing problems in the field of education while comparing with the examples in other Southeast Asian countries.

Besides the above-mentioned three plenary lectures, three invited lectures (all from Andalas University) and thirteen general oral presentations (from both institutions) on research topics related to chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering as well as civil engineering were also delivered. The general oral presentations involved several graduate students from Gifu University; this seminar provided not only a place for cross disciplinary research exchange between the participants, but also as a good platform for improving presentation ability in international conferences for the students.

The seminar was honorably closed by the newly elected President of Gifu University, Professor Hisataka Moriwaki, and some tokens of appreciation/participation were also given to all the oversea guests.

After the 2-full-day seminar in the lecture room, our oversea guests were also given a chance to visit the UNESCO Culture Heritage, i.e. the Shirakawa Village, and Takayama City in the Hida area.

It is our hope that this joint seminar will further promote friendly relations between Andalas University and Gifu University for years to come.
