Associate Professor Maki Koyama of River Basin Research Center is presented with a Letter of Appreciation from the National Police Agency

Associate Professor Maki Koyama of River Basin Research Center, Gifu University was presented with a Letter of Appreciation from the Security Bureau, the National Police Agency on June 2, 2017.

In cooperation with the National Police Agency, Ms. Koyama spent about a year to investigate the police rescue activities when the massive Kumamoto Earthquakes took place in 2016.

Mr. Kojima Yohei, Director of Natural Disaster Prevention Office, Security Division, Security Bureau, National Police Agency visited Gifu University to appreciate Ms. Koyama's cooperation and partnership with the police. The awarding ceremony was held at the office of Dr. Masata Sugito, Executive Director for Planning, Evaluation and Fund, Vice President. Ms. Koyama is the first recipient of the Letter of Appreciation by the Security Bureau of the National Police Agency.

Ms. Koyama reported his acceptance of the letter of appreciation to President Hisataka Moriwaki at the Office of President on June 13. During the meeting, he said, "We had fewer opportunities for collaboration between police officers on the ground and research institutes till today. All data we had gathered and analyzed together are already posted on the website of the National Police Agency. I hope the data will be put into good, wider use for future natural disaster prevention drills."
