Gifu University Symposium, "Human Resource Development for Management Level Employees at School and Roles of Professional School for Teacher Education" is held

On February 7, 2017, Gifu University Symposium entitled, "Human Resource Development for Management Level Employees at School and Roles of Professional School for Teacher Education" was held at Nagaragawa Convention Center. This symposium was part of a "Training Program Development Project for Improvement of Teachers' Quality in 2016" carried out by the National Center for Teachers' Development.

On February 7, about 100 people attended the symposium. They were from professional schools for teacher education, members of board of education inside and outside of Gifu Prefecture, school staff, students and guardians.

In the symposium, first, President Hisataka Moriwaki of Gifu University gave an opening speech. In the first session of project reporting, the teaching staff of the Teacher Education Course, Professional Degree Program, the Graduate School of Education, Gifu University made presentations about "Building of System and Content for Human Resource Development for Management Level Employees at School through Collaboration of Professional Schools for Teacher Education and Boards of Education."

Next, in the second session, Mr. Kazuhiko Mizukawa, Managing Director for Compulsory Education, Gifu Prefecture Board of Education, delivered a keynote speech under the title, "Human Resource Development for Management Level Employees at Schools within Gifu Prefecture."

In the third session, Professor Kiyoaki Shinohara of the Professional Degree Program, the Graduate School of Education, Gifu University (he is also a member of the Coordination Committee between Specialized Committee and Board of Education, Japan Association of Professional Schools for Teacher Education), Professor Yasuki Ono of Hyogo University of Teacher Education and Mr. Hiroki Suematsu, lecturer of Tokyo Gakugei University gave a report on "Human Resource Development for Management Level Employees in the World" respectively.

In the final fourth session, Professor Shinohara moderated a panel discussion held under the theme, "Human Resource Development for Management Level Employees at School and Roles of Professional School for Teacher Education." Four panelists actively discussed the theme and exchanged opinions facilitated by Professor Shinohara. The four panelists were:
- Mr. Kotaro Oe, Vice Director, Educational Personnel Division, Elementary and Secondary Bureau, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)
- Mr. Shinya Takaoka, Director for National Center for Teachers' Development
- Mr. Tetsuya Kajisa, Auditor of National Institute of Technology
- Mr. Kazuhiko Mizukawa, Managing Director for Compulsory Education, Gifu Prefecture Board of Education

Gifu University Symposium on February 7 offered people an excellent opportunity to advance initiatives for human resource development for management level employees at schools.
