Medical Education Development Center holds the 62nd Medical Education Seminar & Workshop

On October 22 and 23, 2016, the Medical Education Development Center (MEDC) of Gifu University held the "62nd Medical Education Seminar & Workshop in Hyogo College of Medicine" in cooperation with the Medical Education Center, Hyogo College of Medicine. This 62nd Seminar and Workshop was convened first in three years in the Kansai region (south-western half of Japan) at which as many as 196 people including lecturers attended. Together with publicly invited workshops, a total of 7 workshops, 2 panel discussions and seminars respectively were held during this two-day event.

During the workshops, active discussions continued at the study meeting among simulated patients, clinical training overseas, community-based rehabilitation (CBR) matrix, team-based learning (TBL), mental preparation for research work, creation of scenarios and helping students build their business careers.

In the seminar, Assistant Professor Takeshi Hida of Nagoya University made a presentation under the title, "Connection between Student Education and Patient Education by Interprofessional Education Device (iPED): Qualitative Analysis of Interviewees." Mr. Hida is a developer of iPED and he spoke about the results of qualitative analysis on effectiveness of small-scale trials.

During the panel discussions, the participants talked and shared information about various challenges and problems with regard to institutional research (IR) in education and learning, and evaluation criteria of the Accreditation System in Medical Education. Lively opinions exchange and discussions continued for some time among many ardent participants.

The Medical Education Development Center holds a medical education seminar and workshop four times a year with a view to contributing to promotion, development and improvement of education for medical staff in Japan as a collaboration center for medical education.

The next 63rd Medical Education Seminar & Workshop will be held at Juroku Plaza in front of JR Gifu Station from January 27 through 29, 2017.
