Gifu University Faculty of Education Affiliated Elementary School students attend "Biwako Floating School"

On October 21 and 22, 2016, Gifu University Faculty of Education Affiliated Elementary School students (fourth-grade students, a total of 108) attended a "Biwako (the Lake Biwa) Floating School" held in Shiga Prefecture. This school is organized by Shiga Prefecture with a view to offering school children an opportunity to study and become more familiar with the Lake Biwa through their overnight stay at a study vessel called, "Uminoko (Lake Child)."

On October 21 and 22, Gifu University Faculty of Education Affiliated Elementary School children took part in the "Biwako Floating School" program together with the children from three elementary schools within Shiga Prefecture.
Gifu University Faculty of Education Affiliated Elementary School children became the first children participated in the school within Gifu Prefecture, and the major goals for those children to achieve were to have active exchanges with children from Shiga Prefecture and to learn a lot about the environment of the Lake Biwa.

While on board, children formed a friendship with one another through self-introductions, playing Japanese cards associated with Shiga Prefecture, dice games, etc. Governor of Shiga Prefecture, Mr. Taizo Mikazuki visited the vessel and observed children enjoying various study and recreational activities unfolded on the vessel.
