Gifu University signs a General Agreement for Collaboration with the University of South Florida

On October 20, 2016, the School of Medicine and the Health Administration Center of Gifu University signed a General Agreement for Collaboration with the Morsani College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the College of Pharmacy and the College of Public Health of the University of South Florida (Tampa, Florida, United States of America).

The University of South Florida is one of the largest state-funded universities in the United States with 48,000 students. Gifu University started researcher exchanges with the University of South Florida in the 1980s and the latest conclusion of a general agreement is expected to promote international exchanges in the department of nursing as well as research exchanges in the field of international public health.

The signing ceremony was held at the Office of Dean of the School of Medicine and the attendees from Gifu University are: Professor Shinya Minatoguchi, Dean, Dr. Mayumi Yamamoto, Director of the Health Administration Center, Professor Akira Hara, Vice Dean of the School of Medicine, Professor Futoshi Okumura, Director of the Department of Nursing, Associate Professor Akihiro Nishio of the Health Administration Center and Mr. Toshihiro Sakano, Director of the Student Support Division. On behalf of the University of South Florida, Dr. Donna Petersen, Dean, the College of Public Health attended the ceremony. After the signing, they exchanged commemorative gifts and active discussions for further growth of bilateral partnership followed.

It is hoped that a robust partnership is built in the field of education between the two institutions which includes receiving of master's and doctoral program students specializing in international public health from the University of South Florida, a short-term or degree-seeking studying, or research activities of Gifu University students and post-doctoral students, at the University of South Florida in the future.
