Gifu University's Gender Equality Promotion Office holds "The 4th Chamomile Children's University Program"

On August 23 and 24, 2016, Gifu University's Gender Equality Promotion Office held "The 4th Chamomile Children's University Program," and a total of 25 children of the teaching and administrative staff of Gifu University and Gifu Women's University attended.
The Gender Equality Promotion Office offers this program to provide the elementary school-age children with an opportunity to engage in educational activities at universities during a long school summer break, as well as to help children deepen their understanding about their parents' work and workplace.

The first program was held at Gifu University on August 23 and the second at Gifu Women's University on August 24.
On August 23, the participants experienced crop harvesting at a farm field and later enjoyed making pizzas and mayonnaise. This program was fully supported by the staff of the Gifu Field Science Center, the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences.
Next, they attended an earthquake and disaster prevention seminar presented by a professor of the River Basin Research Center.

On August 24, many experience-oriented programs were offered to the participants. Teachers and students of Gifu Women's University made teams and held English seminar, fine art workshop, iPad class and campus tour under the title of "After-School Care as Knowledge Supply Site."

All children fully enjoyed this two-day session by cooperating other members within the same group and the university staff.
At the end of the program, Professor Masako Hayashi, Vice President for the Promotion of Gender Equality and Diversity, and President of the Children's University handed a certificate of completion to every program participant.

When the program was over, many children said, "It was a great fun and I wanted to do more."
