Delegation from Sebelas Maret University, Indonesia pays a courtesy call on President Moriwaki

On August 22, 2016, four delegates from Sebelas Maret University, Indonesia paid a visit to Gifu University. They are: Prof. Dr. Hartono, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Paramasari Dirgahayu, Expert Staff Chancellor of Academic Development, Dr. Tonang Dwi Ardyanto, Vice Director of Medical, Education and Research, and Dr. Brian Wasita, Research Coordinator, Department of Anatomical Pathology.
Sebelas Maret University and Gifu University concluded a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2013. Since its conclusion, active exchange continues between the two universities, and in the delegation's latest visit to Gifu University, officials of the both institutions agreed to reinforce the bilateral partnership specifically in the field of medicine.

Firstly, the delegation visited the Graduate School of Medicine and the School of Medicine. In their courtesy visit to Professor Shinya Minatoguchi, Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine, Professor Akira Hara, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine and Professor Yasuyuki Suzuki, Medical Education Development Center (MEDC) were also at present. They talked about future collaboration in the field of medicine and later, Dr. Brian Wasita made a presentation about Sebelas Maret University.

After the courtesy visit, the delegation was invited to MEDC where Professor Yasuyuki Suzuki gave a brief explanation about Japanese educational system and the university's curriculum. The delegation members were then divided into two groups. One group visited the laboratory of Professor Akira Hara, and the other visited the office of Professor Yoichi Maekawa, the Graduate School of Medicine. They exchanged opinions particularly about the possibilities of launching a new joint research program in the future.

After lunch, the delegation visited Gifu University Hospital. Professor Yasutomi Kinosada, Director of the Medical Information Division, and Associate Professor Kiyoshi Nagase, Operation Division made a presentation about e-medical chart system. The delegation mentioned a possible introduction of a similar e-medical chart system to Sebelas Maret University, and an active opinion exchange followed about the system.

The next two sites that the delegation observed were a helipad and a basement of the hospital. At the helipad, Dr. Soichiro Nagaya, Advanced Critical Care Center invited the delegation to observe inside of a heli ambulance, and he explained about its roles and functions to the delegation. At the basement, Mr. Toshinari Nonaka, Assistant Manager of the Facility Management Division described the hospital's earthquake resistance and mitigation system before the delegation.

Lastly, the delegation paid a courtesy call on President Hisataka Moriwaki and the meeting was joined by Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations. They extensively discussed how to promote practical student and faculty exchange between the two universities.
