Members of a "Raise Election Awareness among Gifu Youths" carry out an analysis of candidates' campaign pledges

On June 28, 2016, at Academic Core, 11 members of a "Raise Election Awareness among Gifu Youths" (a volunteer group of Gifu University students) carried out an analysis of campaign pledges of each candidate at the Gifu electoral district for the Upper House Election on July 10, 2016.

This group has been actively engaged in a number of campus-wide educational activities to encourage the Gifu University students to go to the polls. This time, with the support of Associate Professor Noboru Tanaka of the Faculty of Education, the members assembled together for discussions to enhance their own awareness of politics and election system in Japan.

In the discussions, first, the students were divided into small groups and color-coded campaign pledges of individual candidates by field, and assessed their feasibility. Later, they reassembled together and listened to Associate Professor Tanaka's review of their activities.

Japanese youths are more interested in political affairs today. To meet their needs, Gifu University will set up an Early Voting Station within the campus for those who are not able to vote on July 10.

Every student is expected to examine campaign pledges fully, and cast his/her ballot in the upcoming Upper House Election.
