On May 16, 2016, the Gifu University Head Office for Glocalization (GHOGL) and the Faculty of Education jointly held the 1^st English Lounge at the Academic Core in the Library.

English Lounge is a venue of practical English learning for students, international students, teaching and administrative staff of Gifu University. Under the motto, "All English No Japanese," the participants discuss various topics in small groups of 3 to 5 people and hone their English skills under the instructions of English teachers.

On May 16, about 40 people took part in the session. Students who studied abroad and the organizers of different English-speaking clubs were taking the lead in the whole session. The participants were divided into small groups and enjoyed conversations after self-introductions.

English Lounge is held during the lunch break on the first and third Mondays.
