Eco-Friendly Campaign Poster Awards Ceremony

Gifu University publicly sought unique posters for its "Eco-Friendly Campaign" from the pupils and the students of Gifu University Education Faculty-Affiliated Elementary and Junior High School to raise public awareness about environmental problems. There was a large number of entries, and after a strict screening process, four gold, four silver, and twelve bronze prizes were announced at the Awards Ceremony held at the Elementary and Junior High School on December 14, 2015.

This poster creation and awarding activity are part of joint initiatives between Gifu University and the Juroku Bank, Ltd. based on the "Memorandum of Understanding on Partnership for Environment Conservation between Gifu University and the Juroku Bank, Ltd." Similar activities had been undertaken in the past. The latest such campaign marked the 5th anniversary this year.
The Awards Ceremony was attended by Mr. Kawaguchi, Director of General Affairs Division of Juroku Bank, Mr. Yasuda of the Bank's General Affairs Group, President Hisataka Moriwaki, Mr. Masaki Yokoyama, Executive Director for General Affairs and Finance, and Mr. Takehide Sugiura, Director of Facility and Environmental Affairs Department of Gifu University, Mr. Harada, Principal of the Elementary and Junior High Schools, Mr. Matsui, Vice Principal of the Elementary School, and Mr. Mizutani, Vice Principal of the Junior High School. President Moriwaki presented the award certificates to the individual prize winners and Mr. Kawaguchi gave small gifts to them. President Moriwaki addressed the winners, "Please always keep in mind to what you have put into the posters in your life, and propagate environmental activities to the people around you," and Mr. Kawaguchi said, "Please keep on cherishing an ecological spirit and work to create a more livable society." Principal Harada expressed his enthusiasm saying, "We will commit ourselves to providing an education that raises environmental consciousness and places more value on nature, limited resources, and people.

Posters of the winners were on display at the Entrance Hall of the University Library in the past. They were viewed by a great number of visitors, many of whom were local residents. They are scheduled to be displayed in the Elementary and Junior High Schools. Through these activities, Gifu University aims to promote people's understanding about environmental issues, including global warming and recycling, and in cooperation with Juroku Bank, the University also strives to implement community-wide environmental activities.
