Student at the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science, Faculty of Engineering, studies for one year at the U.S. National Institute of Health

Ms. Haruna Nagase, a first year student in the master's program at the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science, Faculty of Engineering, has left to study for one year (October 2015 to September 2016) at the United States National Institute of Health (NIH), the most advanced research institute in the world for drug development and medicine.

In March of 2015, Gifu University entered into an agreement to send the University's students and to exchange research with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), which is part of the NIH.

Ms. Nagase is a student in the University's master's program, and her term at the NIH will be spent as a visiting research student in the Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP), which is formally implemented by the Institute's Office of Intermural Training Education.

She is receiving financial aid for the expenses and costs of her studies as part of the University's Valor V Drug  Scholarship Program for Overseas Research and Training.

Because she is studying at the NIH, the world's leading research institute for drug development and medicine, her term of research will greatly contribute to the goals of training researchers in drug development who will be active on an international stage, and of advancing global research in the fields of drug development and life sciences.
