Trainee from Morocco Pays Courtesy Call on President Moriwaki

On September 14, Mr. Seif-eddine Cherif, doctoral student of Mohammed the First University (Kingdom of Morocco) paid a courtesy call on President Hisataka Moriwaki with Mr. Yasuhiro Ito, Chief Officer of International Affairs Division, Gifu Prefectural Government, who were accompanied by Dr. Keitetsu Rokugo, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Gifu University and Dr. Nobuoto Nojima, Professor of the same Faculty. Gifu University was represented by Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations and Ms. Junko Sugaya, Director of the International Planning Division.

As a trainee of the Project for Technical Cooperation for Seismic Disaster in Oujda-Angad Prefecture, Morocco, which is one of the 2015 Local Government International Cooperation Promotion Programs sponsored by the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), Mr. Cherif has been learning expertise at Gifu University under the instruction of Dr. Nojima from September 3.

In the meeting with the President, Dr. Nojima explained matters such as the fact that Mr. Cherif would receive training at not only facilities on the site of the University, but also at related facilities to his training located in Tokyo, Kobe and the Tohoku region, and President Moriwaki offered a word of encouragement to Mr. Cherif. Mr. Cherif explained about international exchanges at universities in Morocco, as well as the culture and languages spoken in the country. Mr. Cherif attracted the interest of the attendees and they actively exchanged opinions.
