Professor Tohru Mitsunaga, Vice Dean of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGSAS) and Associate Professor Kohei Nakamura of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences visited Chulalongkorn University, Thailand from Sunday, March 22nd　to Tuesday, 24th, 2015. The major objectives of their visit are to deliver a lecture and to discuss implementation of the Dual PhD Degree Program (DDP) between the two institutions.

　In the meeting, Associate Professor Nakamura gave a lecture entitled, "Research on Anaerobic Prokaryotes-Prokaryotic Communities in Alkane Degradation coupled to Methanogenesis and Microbial Fuel Cells." Next, Professor Mitsunaga gave an overview of UGSAS and also explained the Japanese government scholarship programs. Dr. Naraporn Somboona, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology of Chulalongkorn University kindly served as a facilitator throughout the meeting. Around 20 undergraduate students and postdoctoral students were intently listening to the presentations of Associate Professor Nakamura and Professor Mitsunaga.

　During their visit to Chulalongkorn University, the two professors held multiple discussions with their counterparts over the DDP and they agreed with the participation of the Department of Microbiology of Chulalongkohn University in the DDP.

　It is hoped that Professor Mitsunaga and Associate Professor Nakamura's latest visit to Chulalongkohn University will further strengthen cooperation between Gifu University and Chulalongkohn University in the fields of education and research activities in the years to come.
