On Tuesday, March 17th, 2015, the Faculty of Education at Gifu University and the Faculty of Education at Srinakharinwirot University concluded the Academic Exchange Agreement with the objective of promoting researcher exchange for teacher training on an organizational basis and information exchange on education and research. Srinakharinwirot University is a national university in Thailand and the Faculty of Education is the long-established faculty for teacher training.

A signing ceremony was held at the Gifu University Faculty of Education Building, and Ms. Prapansiri Susaorat, Dean of the Faculty of Education (Srinakharinwirot University), Mr. Siriparn Sriwanyong, Associate Dean for Research and International Relations (Srinakharinwirot University), Ms. Rungtiwa Yamrung, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (Srinakharinwirot University), Prof. Naotake Iketani, Dean of the Faculty of Education (Gifu University), Prof. Shinya Oba in the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences (Gifu University) who serves as a liaison between the two universities and other staff attended. Following presentations by both Deans of the Faculty of Education, they signed the agreement. Later, a meeting was held and the attendees exchanged opinions about the characteristics of the two universities and future exchange plans.
Before and after the signing ceremony, Srinakharinwirot University delegation made a visit to Gifu University faculty-affiliated elementary and junior high schools, and a visit to some schools for special needs education in Gifu Prefecture was also realized thanks to the cooperation of Gifu Prefectural Board of Education. In Thailand, teacher training for special needs education is an important task to work on and it is hoped that this agreement will facilitate teacher training for special needs education in Thailand by conducting researcher/student exchange and research of educational programs and also facilitate training of teaching staff with a global mindset in Gifu University Faculty of Education.
