Two Professors in Mechanical Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G), India meet President of Gifu University

Professors P.S Robi and S.K Dwivedy of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) visited Gifu University on Wednesday, February 25th, 2015. The two delegates, both specialize in mechanical engineering, had a meeting with President Hisataka Moriwaki, Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director, Dr. Hiroyuki Koyama, Advisor to the President and Dr. Mutsuhiro Shima, Head of Globalization Promotion Office of Faculty of Engineering.
IIT-G is the sixth member of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) fraternity. The United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGSAS) and the Faculty of Engineering of Gifu University concluded the faculty-level agreements with IIT-G in July of 2012 and in April of 2014 respectively.
President Moriwaki and the Gifu University officials visited IIT-G in September 2014 and held a discussion with Professor Gautam Biswas, FNA, Director of IIT-G. During the visit, President Moriwaki and Professor Gautam Biswas signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for promotion of joint cooperative educational programs between the two institutions. Based on this MoU, IIT-G kindly sent the delegates to Gifu University to materialize the joint cooperative education programs this time. The delegates exchanged opinions about joint degree programs, etc. with the professors of the Faculty of Engineering and UGSAS during their visit.
At the meeting, President Moriwaki and the delegates have confirmed that the existing faculty-level agreements could be upgraded to university-level agreement. They also concurred on the importance of closer cooperation among professors for realization of joint degree and cooperative programs. Subsequently, they discussed exchange schedules for each side.
On the following day, Professor Robi and Professor Dwivedy visited Gifu University Hospital, satellite research facility of iCeMS (Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences, Kyoto University) at the UGSAS, and Center for Advanced Die Engineering and Technology. During their visit, the two delegates and the faculty and staff of Gifu University discussed future planning for promoting joint research projects through collaboration of institutions.
