Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder, Economic Minister from Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo, Visits Gifu University

On Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014, Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder, Economic Minister of Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo, visited Gifu University and held meetings with President Hisataka Moriwaki and Dr. Fumiaki Suzuki, Executive Director for International Affairs and Public Relations as well as seven Bangladeshi participants including one researcher, one graduate and five students of Gifu University.

Firstly, the meeting was held between Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder and Dr. Suzuki. The two exchanged opinions about the joint research programs undertaken between University of Dhaka and Gifu University and further educational cooperation between the two institutions. University of Dhaka and Gifu University concluded the Agreement for Exchange Program in June 2004.
Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder and Dr. Suzuki agreed with acceleration of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Japan. While talking, they came to realize that some of the officials in educational organizations in Bangladesh are common acquaintances of Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder and Dr. Suzuki and such coincidence added the fun to their conversation.

Secondly, the meeting was held between Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder and a researcher, a student and graduates of Gifu University from Bangladesh. Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder gave many words of encouragement to them after he was briefed on the status of research activities and studies by individual participants.

Thirdly, the meeting was held between President Moriwaki and Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder with attendance of Dr. Suzuki, Bangladeshi students and others. President Moriwaki and Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder exchanged their views on forming ties among universities in two nations and discussed Gifu University's plan for students' studying abroad including Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi students and others had a chance to talk to Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder after his meeting with the President, and they all enjoyed delightful conversations with one another. All the participants looked reluctant to part with Dr. Jiban Ranjan Majumder but saw him off in the hope of meeting him again soon in the future.
